Self-harm

Self-harm is often a way to release that internal build-up of pressure and cope with overwhelming distress. It can also be a way of feeling something, anything, if you feel numb or dissociated, as that emptiness can feel bleak too. In therapy we would explore the background causes, which can help to release that pressure in a more productive way and provide you with healthier coping mechanisms through expression and self-care.
